Vintage Amp Overhaul

We’ve been getting many beautiful Vintage Tube Amps for overhaul or restoration.

Here is a partial list of some cool past projects:

Below: 1973 MARSHALL JMP 50W needed to be overhauled and cleaned up. Sounds amazing through
the cool 4×10 cab loaded with the 10″ Celestion G10L-35 speakers.
Below: 1964 Fender Vibro Champ repair and overhaul. After addressing all the issues the amp
sounds stellar again. Very sparkly clean and screams when cranked all the way.
Below: 1956 Fender Tweed Deluxe “5E3”. All filter caps replaced and new caps inserted in original
casings. 3-prong power cord installed, broken Mains switch replaced. Sockets + Pots cleaned. Amp
sounds awesome again and no more humming !

switch (hidden away in existing cavity) and this thing screams !

new speaker cord plus a new preamp tube
Below: 1955 Sears Silvertone 1333 needed general overhaul. Introduced in 1954, you could order it in
the Sears mail order catalog for $69.95.

Below: 1950’s FENDER TWEED DELUXE (5E3) overhaul.

These original collector’s items can catch prices of up to $4,000 !

Some noted users: Neil Young, Billy Gibbons, Don Felder

and… maybe the most influential 5E3 player was… Little Walter Jacobs, the Chess Records harp king, who appeared both as a leader and on most of Muddy Waters’ ’50s records.

Below: TRAYNOR YSR-1 Custom Reverb was overhauled and tuned up.This early 70’s YSR-1 Custom
Reverb has similarities with a 100W Plexi, but with the main difference of a Fender-like tone stack
with only Treble and Bass controls. Plus it sports a Tremolo and Reverb.
Below: 1952 FENDER Champion 600 needed general overhaul and tune up.5 Watts of Class A power into a six inch speaker,
5Y3 rectifier, a 6V6 power tube and a rare 6SJ7 octal pentode as a preamp tube. 1 gain stage going into Volume Pot going
into power tube, that’s it.You can see the tiny output transformer next to the original wax signal filter capacitors which
still do their job well after 60+ years !
Below : MAGNATONE CUSTOM 440 built 1963 : overhaulSounds very unique and gets some nice
overdrive when cranked on the high gain input. Sounds nothing like a Fender as some people say.
It’s got it’s own thing going on….
